With so many proprietary formats in use a standard RAW format would simplify workflow for anyone working in an environment that receives images from multiple camera systems. With the benefit of working on the RAW file itself, it should not be an inconvenience to work in this mode. The long-term survivability of the RAW format alone should have manufactures working for a common format.
