...because proprietary RAW formats limit my personal freedom.
Freedom to use the software *I* choose, freedom to archive *my* photos "undeveloped" without worrying whether or not I'll have software that can read these files many years from now.
Once I press the shutter, it's *MY* photo on the card, *MY* property, and I should have every right to do with it whatever I please....
