At the present time, the Epson R-D1 Rangefinder Digital Camera can store
files in our proprietary Epson raw file format (.erf) and in standard JPEG
(.jpg) file format. We have no intention of transitioning to any raw file format that is proprietary or encrypted making it impossible for end-users to access raw data with programs other than those provided by Epson. We are committed to and will continue to work with third party software vendors who wish to support the Epson raw file format (.erf). As the industry transitions to a standard raw file format, whether it is .dng or some other solution, Epson will evaluate and carefully consider those formats for integration with our digital camera technology."
