An Open RAW format is the only way that we can be sure that manufacturers cannot put commercial gain ahead of the long term future of the photographic record.History will judge very harshly attempts by manufacturers to limit access to images now and in the future. Nikon's actions in encrypting the white balance with the D2X is indefensible.
