Despite the manufacturers' contention (Canon, Nikon, etc) that their RAW formats provide them with a competitive advantage, they should concentrate on packing as much information into their RAW files, not on obfuscating their files. The more photographers use their cameras and use RAW format, the better the quality of their photographs.
