I agree. Even though I shoot Canon, I had pretty much decided to buy the new D2X with the new 200-400 VR zoom, thinking it was a perfect wildlife combo. But the news of Nikon's decision to encrypt WB data helped me to permanently nix that idea. I would take the same action against Canon if they also decide to play this game!
