The pictures taken with my camera are my property and I should not be limited to a camera manufacturer's decision to discontinue access or limit my access to those pictures.

You are not technically limited to those pictures. You can use Capture to access them anytime you want. And you can always convert them to a non-proprietary format if you feel the need. Sure, it's a pain, but it's not really a valid argument for opening up RAW formats.

As photographers, and users of photographs, we should lobby...

As photographers, and users of photographs, we should lobby for what WE want.

It is irrelevant what some people may consider to be valid arguments. Important changes happen when people go for what they believe in, and not just roll over because someone says they should, or says they are not entitled to what they ask for.

Let's try and change the world so that people will no longer say we are not entitled to it. Even if it hurts the companies that get all their money from us.
