The user owns the data in the file on the CF card. They should have a spec available to them that fully defines the format of that data, and total read access to it.

Likewise for image processing s/w vendors who wish to supply applications to the user. They don't own the file the user wants to process, but the user owns the right to allow them to process the user's file.
