I do research work on image processing. We have a digital SLR where we want to get as close to raw data of the CCD as we can--so we can know what's been done to it. The SLR is worthless to us because they won't tell us the raw format.

Can't you simply convert its Raw format to DNG? DNG is...
Can't you simply convert its Raw format to DNG? DNG is documented, so you would then have full knowledge of what you have.
