My first D-SLR was a Minolta RD175 , ca. 1,8 MP , FileFormat was only something like it is called raw today !

Today , I cant use this pictures anymore, because there is no raw converter available , i used this camera 1998/99 , so thats not really long ago ...

Shure i saved all my images in tiff also , but this is also a problem of enough storage space...

So a standard raw format could help ...

So, one question: how did you manage to convert your "RAW" files to TIFF by then when you did it, and why that same method does not work any more now?

I believe what Herbert Köppel is saying is that no NEW software supports the original Minolta RD-175 RAW file format.

a) I think this is just the nature of being FIRST in the market place - no one ELSE had a digital camera back then, so what was Minolta to do? They invented something unique that worked for them. Everyone move on from there, including Mniolta.

b) This is a problem with Adobe and others who do not search to maintain file opening compatibility across discontinued cameras. They are only working on NEW models, as that's where the ca$h is today!

c) This is a MINOLTA problem in that they somehow feel no loyalty and aliegence to their loyal original purchasers as the years wear on. Minolta should publish standards for their cameras, especially RAW and EXIF data for their discontinued models so anyone can continue to support their customer's images even after Minolta has moved on. Minolta should push these standards to ANY image software company so they can include such image file opening support in all their newest software - otherwise, Minolta will die a sorrowful death.

Are you listening, Minolta? Get back in the game - make your cameras respected and honored once again. Support your loyal followers and early implementers. FIX YOUR REPUTATION, Minolta!

Thanks!

If you like to use the MDF Format files, you can use ThumbsPlus. This Software is supporting the MDC files directly.
