I'm a Consulting Manager for a major Software Manufacturer. One of the major parts of our business is to provide planning for long term storage and retrieval of business or public record documents.
It is crtical that anyone dealing with long term archive and retrieval look ahead...not only 50, but 500 years, or even more to ensure that critical documents are accessibly maintained.
This is especially crucial in this transition period from paper to the emergence of digital files of all kinds. It is critical for imaged documents.
Carefully thought out policy, which has been missing up-to-now, must be developed to ensure this legacy, along with the everyday application of the file management and workflow. In my opinion this is a terrific marketing opportunity for any imaging manufacturer
I applaud the objectives of the OpenRaw initiative and hope that all can work together to achieve one of the most important goals we can discuss today.
