There is simply no reason to ever have to re-process files once completed. The ever changing proprietary raw formats carry the implication that files will have to be "done over" to carry them into the future.

Nikon has a simple solution....make Capture a plug in for photoshop and further to support DNG. Capture has some uniques features which I would continue to buy (e.g. linearizing fisheye lenses) and I believe the color fidelity is better than some other raw converters.

One thing that won't happen is for Nikon to continue to market Capture by virtue of witholding the salient data from third party manufacturers such as Adobe or Bibble. One can look at the backlash from their customers already and know they are on shaky ground.

Hopefully Nikon is listening and will go back to winning by virtue of superior products and services.

You are incorrect about not reprocessing images. Current methods are a trade of between various artifacts and error, speed, and memory. different subjects can be best proscessed with different algorithms, and in fact different PARTS of the image may be best with different processing.

Do you really want to shut yourself out from future advances and improvments?
