As someone who has worked on photo...

As someone who has worked on photo restoration and exhibition projects at a number of state and national museums, I appreciate the values of cultural and historic preservation encoded within aging photographic prints and negatives. As a computer specialist and technical restorer of images, I also appreciate the steady advance of methods and materials which continuously improve our ability to display and disseminate images from past times. Now, with a digital future opening before us, it will be totally irresponsible - even criminally negligent - to allow our essentially trivial proprietary and commercial concerns of the moment to jeopardize the preservation and future application of new images which document our own times. No photographic supplier worthy of our business should cling to selfish and outrageous policies that compromise the actual future of all our images.
