OpenRAW

I am very mad at Nikon for encrypting the WB information in the D2X raw files. I'm forced to use their SLOW Nikon Capture 4 and I can't use another software that I want to open my raw images. I own the images not Nikon. In the future I want to be able to use any software that I want to open MY files. Please camera manufacturers create a universal raw format for all cameras.
