... it needs additional software processing to render a picture. The transient nature of the current RAW formats makes the developement of uptodate software very difficult - it often take months for ACR to support new cameras.

The Internet has been VERY successul because of HTML/XML. Why can't we think along the same lines for RAW. (XML_RAW). I understand the complexity, but I am convinced that this is not rocket science, but more an issue of marketing and sales.
