1. This is the only way to assure the long term archival properties of RAW photos taken today.

2. There is no assurance that any camera company today is going to be around tomorrow. We need a way to protect our investments.

3. Documenting RAW formats will spark creativity among third party sofware vendors.

4. Will we next only be able to develop film negatives in a particular lab?

5. I already paid $5k for a camera, I believe the images I take belong to me! Maybe we should file a class action lawsuit against these folks!

6. I've had a d2x for about a month now, but still cannot use it professionally because my workflow is broken without the RAW converter. This will not be an issue if RAW formats were documented openly.
