An image is my sole property and is protected under copyright laws, whether it is in digital or analog forum. The raw file does not belong to the camera manufacturer, it belongs to me! Any attempt to encrypt or restrict my free access to this information or any part of it, especially for monetary gain, constitutes theft of my copyrighted property. All photographers, amateur and professional, need to join together and send a clear message to manufacturers that their property rights end when the image is recorded. If the manufacturers fail to respond, legal action may be necessary.
