Raw Images might one day become the standard for Digital Archiving. This would allow companies to develop a single module and support for their applications and technologies. Additionally, Proprietary file formats are dead. Making a single, standard guideline for storing Data such as XML and CSV, might make it easier for future users to decode and utilize the documents without having to resort to software piracy to obtain the correct filters or Translators for the Data.

Case and point: Canon no longer supports or supplies the software for it's 2720U scanner (A 35 MM Slide Scanner) The software was able to scan to a Proprietary Raw format which is not supported by Photoshop.
So, having lost the disc I had to get it Illegally. Their [Canon's] Fault, Not Mine. I am not paying 49.95 plus shipping to support a product I already Paid $1000 plus for.

Enjoy the RawLife
