The Babelization of RAW image file...

The Babelization of RAW image file formats is in nobody's best interest. It is not a competitive advantage for manufacturers -- nobody ever selected a camera based on its RAW file format. It is nothing more than an unnecessary hinderance to the camera owner.

Cutting to the chase, I own tens of thousands of dollars of Canon photo gear, including a 10D, 1D2 and 1Ds2. If Canon chose to encrypt their RAW file formats through a future firmware upgrade I would most certainly forgo the upgrade and exclude Canon from future purchase considerations

On the scale of performance versus openness and versatility, the latter will always take the edge in my book. It may be easy to make the following comment as a Canon shooter, but Nikonians should cast their vote with their wallets at the earliest possible date. Ultimately that is the only language that Nikon will understand and respond to. Their explanation for encrypting WB data in their RAW files is absolutely laughable and breathtakingly arrogant.

Just say no.
