...photographers should not be limited in how they can access the photographs *they* create on cameras that *they* own. Having to use proprietary software to access higher quality images puts a burden on photographers to not only run software that may be inadequate for their needs, but also may require an operating system they do not use or wish to use. I am against proprietary file formats in general, but especially for multimedia since it limits access to an artist's creative work.
