corrupted files help please

I shot 138 Fuji.RAF image files to a Sandisk 4GB CF card recently and then it seized. The last 31 files though being seen as files of the right size and type cannot be opened because of corruption. Having tried several file recovery applications without success can anyone suggest a way of opening these files or repairing them so that I can recover the images?

I think that scanning slides and negatives to RAW is an excellent way of scanning for archive so that you do not have to rescan every time someone needs a slightly different version of the picture.

As such, the software should be quite simple. There are more than enough RAW processors out there, just pick a RAW format that Adobe RAW can use so I do not have to invest in more software :-) Also, why spend any energy inventing the wheel over again. Let the RAW processing software makers do what they do best. We just need to provide the input.

The functionality needed in the interface:

Preview and crop - It should work with flatbed scanners as well and there is no need to keep all the whitespace.

I had a little discussion with Ed Hamrick, the maker of VueScan about his RAW format. Basically what he said is that it is a normal TIFF file and that there is no point in editing it with Adobe Camera RAW which BTW is not able to open his TIFF file.

Here is his explanation:

The reason Adobe Camera RAW doesn't read TIFF files is because there's
no reason for it to do this. The whole point of Adobe Camera RAW is to take
images from a color filter array (i.e. one color per pixel) and interpolate this
into a three colors per pixel data source.

some RAWs are not clear RAW

It has been found on Russian camera-dedicated forum, that some camera manufactures pre-process raw data from matrix before it is stored as RAW file.

They noticed WB adjustment results differed a lot in Pentax own software and ACR, dcraw, UFRaw.
This leaded to suspicion WB settings are already applied to the RAW file. They wrote a program to extract data from RAW and show channel histograms. It happened RAW files shot with different WB settings differed not only in exposures, but in channels.

i want to discuss a scenario...

i have this raw file from any xyz manufacturer...

i want to develop it with the software i like and which meets my need...but some of the morons don't want us to do that...rather they want to force us to use their inferior quality converters...

another thing...who is the owner of the RAW data...?
if the image right is mine then all of the data should be mine...

how on earth nikon ownes data of the image that "I HAVE SHOT"

who can answer?

DNG has a provision for the manufacturers to have their data written there. and it can be encrypted(???)...so why are they calling it a OPEN format?

I just bought a Kodak P880 and I love it, but since I use Paint Shop Pro X and Corel Photo Album 6, I was hoping not to have to use the Easyshare software that came with the camera, especially since I had trouble downloading the latest version that supports kdc., Kodak's raw format file. Is there anything else I can do or try to convert my kdc. files, or should I try to work it out with the Easyshare? Thanks, Janice

Old to new RAW

Hello,
I think, the problems for creating a new standard are the existing RAW-files. If somebody would create a program witch can transform every old RAW-files into the DNG-standard (or an other RAW-format), the DNG-format (or any other RAW-format) would get the standard for all, because everyone can save his old RAW-files for the future.

Recovery of deleted Raw files

Hello!
I need help to recover Raw-files that were deleted by accident!

I used "GetDataBack for FAT", and this app finds and restore all my missed files.

The disadvantage is that Photoshop and RawShooter don't recognize the files as RAW.

Can anybody help with a solution?

Photoshop CS2 > Raw

Having spent the last year (neophite) actively learning, useing and makeing mistakes in Photoshop, I have come to a premise that could no doubt be in error.

When processing a file in "Raw," it seems to me that a lot of image management is possible. However, this brings me to my premise, "After setting up the "Workflow, " canceling all the automatics, and sharpening etc.... All that is really left is to set up the file for the very best "Histogram" to send to PS."

I know I just climbed out on a cliff, but I would like you responce.

P.S. Camera menue preset to min. info.
