OpenRAW

I cannot understand the proscriptive attitude to RAW files.For what purpose?
Indeed restricting access,in my opinion,will alienate many from purchase.You would not by a car if it could only use one manufactures fuel!
I believe there should be a common universal,cross platform, RAW file,enabling optimisation of that format,one workflow to learn and acknowledging that photography is about making images,not algorithms.
