The camera makers shouldn't be allowed...
The camera makers shouldn't be allowed to impose their closed formats to the owners of data (the images). The only benefit of a closed data format is for the makers to lock you (the user) in their systems--that's not to your benefit, it's for them.
As the owner of my data (my images), I should have the freedom to choose which software to use in whatever operating system.
