I have just shelled out £1200 for the Nikon D200, and find I can't read the RAW files unless I load Nikon software. I have too many programs already on my computer because of manufacturer's doing their own thing (and that means less space for pictures, which is what we want). I can read files from the D70s, but can't yet look at the test stuff I've done today on the D200. I don't want to have to keep adding software, I just want something simple that deals with everything.

I think we all need to understand that this is about sales and marketing. AND, with our cameras being mini-computers, we are slaves to technology.

This whole RAW debate revolves around people wanting to "upgrade" to newer equipment and newer software when in reality their present equipment and software works just fine. We should step back and consider the quality of our images and then debate on what can make them better.
